Two Teams That Malik Beasley Would Fit Perfectly On
Golden State Warriors are among teams who shown interest in the shooting guard
Even though the Milwaukee Bucks made the playoffs this year, it’s still fair to say that they had a disappointing season. With them constructing a team around superstars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, there are some players who aren’t for it.
On Friday, a report went viral via X that Bucks shooting guard Malik Beasley will likely play elsewhere next season.
In July 2023, Beasley joined Milwaukee on an one-year deal worth $2.7 million. In spite of playing alongside ball-dominant Antetokounmpo and Lillard, he still managed to hold his own. He averaged 11.3 points while shooting the ball at a high clip. He shot 44.3% from the field and a career-high 41.3% from the 3-point line. His 3-point percentage was a team-high for players who averaged more than one 3-point attempt a game.
Nevertheless, Beasley’s usage saw a decrease come playoff time. During the Bucks’ first-round loss to the Indiana Pacers, he started in only two of the six games played while logging in just 21.8 minutes a night. The reason for the drastic change may be credited to head coach Doc Rivers’ decision to start defense-minded Patrick Beverley.
Beasley has already drawn attraction from teams
Last month, rumors circulated that the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic have shown interest in Beasley. Considering that the Warriors are unsure of Klay Thompson’s offseason actions, it makes sense for them to pursue Beasley. If the Warriors lose Thompson, they will be without a main component that made them one of the best 3-point shooting teams this year. Of course, Beasley isn’t close to being the deadeye, 3-point shooter Thompson was but he would still fit into the Warriors’ system.
As for the Magic, their motive for acquiring Beasley is also obvious. This season, they were one of the worst 3-point shooting teams and it only got worse in the postseason. Gary Harris, their starting shooting guard, will also become a free agent this summer, leaving the spot open. If they are able to grab Beasley, he would be effective in stretching the floor for Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.
If Beasley follows through with his decision to leave the Bucks, they will need to find another player who excels at deep shooting that they can put alongside Lillard and Antetokoumpo.
