The Toronto Raptors Should Retire Chris Bosh's No. 4 Jersey
Bosh played seven incredible seasons with the Raptors before joining the Miami Heat
It was recently announced that the Toronto Raptors will retire Vince Carter’s jersey.  He'll be the first player to have his jersey retired by them but he might not be the last.
Though the Raptors will likely retire Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan's jersey, former player Chris Bosh makes a great case as well.
After Bosh spent one year playing at Georgia Tech, the Raptors selected him as the fourth overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft. During his rookie season, he played 75 games and averaged 11.5 points, a rookie-leading 7.4 rebounds, and a rookie-leading 1.4 blocks. Not only did he lead all rookies in rebounds, but he also set a Raptors record for most rebounds in a rookie season with a total of 557. His efforts earned him a spot on the All-Rookie First Team while finishing fifth in the Rookie of the Year award race.
Bosh’s next six years in Toronto were remarkable for him. While becoming the face of the franchise, he averaged a combined 21.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks.
The 2006-07 season was when he played arguably his best basketball. Throughout that year, he turned in averages of 22.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.3 blocks. He also recorded 42 double-doubles and seven games with 30 or more points. His best performance came on Feb. 7 when he scored a then-career-high 41 points against the Orlando Magic. Bosh not only made the All-Star team a second straight year but was named to the All-NBA Second Team while finishing seventh in the Most Valuable Player award race.
On July 10, 2010, Bosh’s tenure in Toronto ended when he joined LeBron James and Dwyane Wade on the Miami Heat. Regardless, his time in Toronto was special. He was a five-time All-Star who led the Raptors to back-to-back playoff appearances in 2007 and 2008. He is currently their all-time leader in rebounds and blocked shots with 4,776 and 600, respectively. Bosh is also their third all-time leader in points with 10,275.
Although Bosh and the Raptors never found much success together, his legacy with the franchise can’t be forgotten.
