The Golden State Warriors' Future Revolves Around Brandin Podziemski
NBA insider Shams Charania said the Warriors have "high hopes" for Podziemski
The Golden State Warriors made a number of changes this summer. Along with those alterations, they might have chosen the player to construct their organization around.
On a recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show, NBA insider Shams Charania stated that the Warriors intend to build their franchise around shooting guard Brandin Podziemski.
“They [Warriors] have high hopes for him [Podziemski]. They view him as really that guard-of-the-future in Golden State.” - Shams Charania
For over a decade, Stephen Curry was the Warriors’ superstar guard. He led them to nine playoff appearances while winning four championships, including back-to-back ones in 2017 and 2018. But as Curry just finished his 15th NBA season with more time behind him than in front of him, the door has opened for Podziemski.
After a standout year at Santa Clara University, Podziemski was selected by the Warriors as the 19th overall pick in the 2023 draft. Though he was picked late in the draft, it is evident that he has the all-around abilities to contribute in large ways.
Last season, Podziemski played 74 games while finishing with averages of 9.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 0.8 steals. But he played at his best as a starter. In the 28 games he started in, he averaged 9.5 points, along with 6.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists. His best performance took place on Jan. 13, as he recorded 23 points and 10 rebounds against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Of course, his efforts paid off in the end. He earned a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team, becoming the first Warriors player since Eric Paschall to make an All-Rookie Team. Along with that, he finished in fifth place in voting for the Rookie of the Year award.
Considering that Podziemski is under a four-year contract with Golden State, there’s a high possibility that they could obtain him for the near future.
