Oklahoma City Thunder Center Chet Holmgren Has A Great Future In The NBA
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green called Holmgren a "problem"
When Oklahoma City Thunder center Chet Holmgren injured his foot during the 2022 NBA offseason, some spectulated that he would never reach his full potential.
It seems like they could be wrong.
The second pick in the 2022 NBA draft is already proving he fits in the league. This season, he averages 17 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks. On Oct. 27, just his second career game, he recorded 16 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The block total broke the Thunder’s franchise record for the most in a game by a rookie.
However, his most recent outing is what brought out praise from one of the best defenders, Draymond Green. During a postgame interview on Friday, Green expressed his admiration for Holmgren.
“Chet’s a problem,” the Golden State Warriors forward said. “He can play, he can dribble the ball, he can shoot the ball. Has great length, a great shot blocker. He’s only going to get better. You know, for a young guy like that to have the feel that he has. You don’t see many mistakes out of him and I thought that was big.”
Green had the chance to see Holmgren perform right in front of his eyes. During the In-Season Tournament loss to the Warriors on Friday, Holmgren scored a career-high 24 points to go with eight rebounds, five assists, one steal and a block.
Just like San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama, he possess the length and all-around skills to make it big in the league. However, his size can also limit him, considering how thin he is.
Still, Holmgren’s talent guarantees many years in the league for him.
