NBA News: Isaiah Thomas Is Eyeing A NBA Return, Jordan Poole Makes His All-Star Case
Isaiah Thomas will rejoin the Utah Jazz’s G-League team
It’s been almost a year since Isaiah Thomas played in a professional NBA game.
However, he isn’t ready to hang it up yet. On Monday, sports reporter Shams Charania revealed Thomas has rejoined the Salt Lake City Stars, the Utah Jazz’s affiliate G-League team.
This isn’t the first time Thomas played for the Stars. After remaining a free agent for the entire 2023-24 season, he joined the Stars in March 2024. In the four games he played for them, he averaged 32.5 points and 5.3 assists.
On Mar. 20, his production paid off as he was able to sign with the Phoenix Suns. Throughout the six games he played for the Suns, he logged averages of just 1.3 points and 0.5 assists. Once the season ended, he re-entered free agency but failed to get acquired from a team.
Despite being a two-time All-Star who averaged 17.5 points and 4.8 assists for his career, Thomas might have trouble getting back into the NBA. At the age of 35, he will need to adapt to this young and quick generation of players.
Jordan Poole believes he could make the All-Star team this year
For decades, the All-Star Weekend has been about highlighting the most gifted players in the NBA. Considering this season has a great amount of talent around the league, some believe they qualify for the big occasion.
On Friday, Washington Wizards guard Jordan Poole told Sportskeeda’s Mark Medina that he believes he’s an All-Star this season.
“I think I'm definitely an All-Star,” Poole said. “I play at an All-Star level. A lot of it can be political and situational. But performance wise, I think that I'm an All-Star.”
Following a tough first year in D.C., Poole is now having arguably the best season of his career. Despite the Wizards’ 6-38 record, he is averaging a career-high 21.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, a career-high 4.9 assists, and a career-high 1.6 steals. He is also shooting 42.4% from the field and a career-high 40.2% from 3-point range.
Although there are a long list of talented guards who could make the reserve list, Poole has a good chance of making the cut.
