NBA Free Agency Summary: July 1, 2025
Detroit Pistons sign Duncan Robinson:
CONTRACT DETAILS: Three-year, $48 million contract. The second year is partially guaranteed and non-guaranteed in the third year.
PROS FOR PISTONS: Robinson offers Detroit reliable 3-point shooting. The Pistons shot 36.2% from that area this season. His shooting will allow more space for Cade Cunningham to drive to the rim.
CONS FOR PISTONS: Robinson’s huge contract could make it difficult for Detroit to pursue other players for the future.
Denver Nuggets sign Tim Hardaway Jr.:
CONTRACT DETAILS: One-year, veteran minimum contract.
PROS FOR NUGGETS: Hardaway offers Denver 3-point shooting. This season, Hardaway shot 36.8% from that area. He adds much-needed depth to the wing positions. He also brings playoff experience to the team. During his career, he made six playoff appearances, including a Finals appearance in 2024 with the Dallas Mavericks.
CONS FOR NUGGETS: Although Hardaway is a great shooter, there are many times when he shows inconsistency.
Sacramento Kings sign Dennis Schroder:
CONTRACT DETAILS: Three-year, $45 million contract. The first two years are fully guaranteed with the third year partially guaranteed.
PROS FOR KINGS: Schroder offers Sacramento a much-needed veteran point guard. Schroder also offers both scoring and playmaking. This season, he averaged 13.1 points and 5.4 assists. Schroder is also a decent defender who has the ability to deflect passes.
CONS FOR KINGS: Although Schroder can score, he has shown inconsistency when shooting for the 3-point line.
Milwaukee Bucks sign Myles Turner:
CONTRACT DETAILS: Four-year, $107 million contract. He has a player option in the fourth year.
PROS FOR BUCKS: Turner offers Milwaukee a much-needed frontcourt partner for Giannis Antetokounmpo, especially after the departure of Brook Lopez. He offers rim protection, which the Bucks desperately need. This season, they averaged 4.7 blocks. With his 3-point shooting, he allows more space for Antetokounmpo to easily drive to the rim.
CONS FOR BUCKS: The Bucks were able to sign Turner after waiving Damian Lillard. However, it cost the Bucks roughly $22.5 million, which could limit their ability to sign other players in the future.
New York Knicks sign Guerschon Yabusele:
CONTRACT DETAILS: Two-year, $12 million contract. He has a player option in the second year.
PROS FOR KNICKS: Yabusele offers New York more depth in the frontcourt. With Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson the only two primary frontcourt players, Yabusele will help out in that area. He is also an improved 3-point shooter, shooting a career-high 38.0% this year with the Philadelphia 76ers.
CONS FOR KNICKS: When New York signed Yabusele, they used the taxpayer mid-level exception, leaving them hard-capped at the second apron. This will limit their abilities to make future moves with the roster.
