Gary Trent Jr. Will Fit Perfectly With The Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks are still without a primary shooting guard for the next season
This year’s NBA offseason has not disappointed. With most key players on new rosters, the list of free agents has now slimmed down. However, there are still a few more important players on the market, one of them being shooting guard Gary Trent Jr.
Despite the fact that Trent has yet to be picked up by a team, he still carries a lot of value. While playing his fourth season with the Toronto Raptors this year, he averaged 13.7 points in the 71 games he played. He also shot the ball extremely well, completing 42.6% of his field goal attempts and 39.3% of his 3-pointers.
The Milwaukee Bucks could use his services
For most of the offseason, the Bucks have been fairly quiet. Though they signed Taurean Prince and Delon Wright this month, their roster still needs slight improvement, particularly at the shooting guard position. As the roster currently stands, Prince is occupying the starting small forward position while Khris Middleton has been moved to the two spot.
Trent, who has executed the shooting guard spot for the past four years, could be a great pick up for the Bucks.
The main issue Milwaukee struggled with near the end of this season, including the playoffs, was their 3-point shooting. With the play style Trent possesses, he could easily fill that void. Throughout his six-year career, he established himself as a great 3-point shooter. He connects on 38.6% of his 3-point attempts, most of them being off-the-dribble and spot-up ones. In fact, the last time he finished a season with a 3-point percentage lower than 35% was his rookie campaign with the Portland Trail Blazers.
If the Bucks are able to acquire Trent, they will be able to move Middleton back to the small forward spot while finally giving Damian Lillard a much-needed backcourt partner.
