Chandler Parsons Believes Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Deserves The MVP Nod
Gilgeous-Alexander is having the best season of his career so far
With the many individual awards given into the NBA, the Most Valuable Player will always be the most important one.
While players such as Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo have already been linked to the award this season, there is another player who has climbed up the ladder.
On a recent episode of FanDuel TV’s Run It Back podcast, Chandler Parsons said Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander deserves the nod this year.
“Unless the [Denver] Nuggets get the No. 1 seed this year, this is SGA’s award this year. It’s time, it’s his. He’s proven it.” - Chandler Parsons
The Thunder have been one of the NBA’s best teams this year. As of right now, they possess the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference with a record of 44-10, mainly due to Gilgeous-Alexander’s production.
This season, Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging a career-high and league-leading 32.5 points. Along with that, he is logging in 5.1 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.9 steals a game. He already turned three games with 50-plus points this season, including a 54-point effort against the Utah Jazz.
If Gilgeous-Alexander can continue this stretch, he will be in great position to win his first MVP award.
